Last weekend, we took care of our neighbors dog. I developed "floor plan envy" in doing so.
Their home is like ours....backs up to a reserve...no neighbors behind them. The have huge open windows.
We however, do not. They are covered in shutters.
Our "den" can be fairly dark....and that is OK too.
Here is another shot of the back windows. Like I said...we have been here for 2 years...and if you know Shorty and I at all....you know we like change in our house. We are always looking at real estate....pondering changes.
But, I am trying to change a few things....maybe a little easier than packing a moving truck. ;)
So I took off the shutters this afternoon before Shorty got home. It is hard to believe how much bigger and brighter the room is.
But, does it look good? Seems as if they need some sort of window treatments....they have pretty moldings....but don't think that will cut it.
What do you think? I like it one minute...then the next, I don't. Do they look stupid?
Dang indecisiveness.
you could always do a cornice and then have duets blinds that pull up under the cornice where you wouldn't see them. ???
ReplyDeleteuhmmm..i think you should move.
ReplyDeletejust leave all your stuff there.
do take the dog! then i will bring
my toothbrush and move right in.
then i will hang dummy panels on both
sides of the windows. windows wide open!
one of the things i loved about german architecture is that they had paintings on the exterior and interior of the walls to give the structure a bit of a kick. you could hire a painter (i know...i know) to come in and put a little love on the walls near one of the top corners of the windows. little being the operative word. too much would look stupid. or you could get those posts that look like knobs or something and attach material to dress it up a bit. curtains are kind of old lady, i think. but a little fabric knotted at the top and middle would be kind of pretty.
ReplyDeletei like the windows without the shutters. but i do agree that it needs a little something at the top to balance out the visual heaviness of your furniture.
did that make sense?
